HPD Services
An HPD (Health Product Declaration) is a comprehensive disclosure of the potential health hazards and chemicals of concern in products. It does so by comparing product ingredients to a set of priority “hazard” lists based on the GreenScreen for Safer Chemicals and additional lists from other government agencies.
The HPD is governed by the HPD Collaborative. It is considered a complement to an LCA and an EPD.
Types of HPD
An HPD is for disclosure-purposes only, who prepares it carries a weight in obtaining sustainability credibility by providing validated supporting documentation towards credits with systems like LEEDv4, WELL and other sustainability-driven certifications. An HPD can be self-declared, prepared by a manufacturer or their designated consultant; or be 3rd party verified, done by an independent 3rd party agency.
